A 23-year-old Thai student drowned yesterday while rock fishing after being swept into the water by a large wave at the popular Blue Fish Point of Watsons Bay in New South Wales, the Daily Telegraph online reported.
The article quoted police in identifying the victim as Aphirat Nepang, who was in Australia on a student visa from Thailand.
His two friends, aged 31 and 37, tried to rescue Aphirat but to no avail. They survived because they were wearing life jacket, authorities said. Both of them were treated by parademics for hypothermia.
Water police managed to pull the trio into a boat but nothing could be done to save Aphirat. Source: nationmultimedia
